VOLUNTEERS
We want to thank you in advance for your interest in volunteering at Discovery Academy of Science. The teachers, students, staff, and PVO greatly appreciate the time you are willing to share through your volunteer work here. Volunteering in a school is an experience and a privilege for both the school and the volunteer. It is designed to promote and maintain a supportive relationship with the students, teachers, and school staff. The contributions of volunteers clearly demonstrates to students that their success is important enough for the community to take an active role in their education.
HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER
If there is any possibility at all that you will be left alone with students (ie field trips, room parent, educational team coach, etc.) you must obtain level 2 clearance to volunteer. If the work you are doing will always be around school staff or not around children such as helping in the office, helping teachers doing things at home, or helping with PVO events where parents will be responsible for their children then you can obtain level 1 clearance to volunteer.
You can access the Level 1 and Level 2 volunteer forms by clicking the buttons on the left. To become a level 1 volunteer you must fill out the form and send it back into the school with $5 to run your background check. You must also email volunteers@daspvo.org once you turn in the form so that the Volunteer Coordinator knows to be on the lookout for your results. To become a level 2 volunteer you must fill out the the level 2 form and either send it back to the school and notify volunteers@daspvo.org or email the completed form to daspvo.org. The form itself has instructions on cost and location of the facility you must go to in order to get your fingerprinting/background checking completed.
Once the school receives the results of your Level 1 / Level 2 results the volunteer coordinator will contact you with the results and provide login information for your volunteer account in track-it-forward where you can sign-up for volunteer opportunities and log volunteer hours.
